Asian central banks raise rates in inflation fight

Asian central banks that have stayed on the sidelines as food and fuel prices accelerated domestic inflation are now swinging into gear. Central banks in Indonesia and the Philippines raised interest rates on Thursday by 25 basis points. India and Malaysia increased gasoline prices this week and both are expected to raise interest rates soon.
