CSX and Norfolk Southern are slated to break ground on new rail projects today. Norfolk Southern will begin work on its $97.5 million intermodal terminal project in McCalla, Ala. The facility is the second of four planned intermodal terminals that are part of the Crescent Corridor project. CSX is expected to break ground today on its $100 million freight yard in Worcester, Mass. The private-public partnership between the state and CSX will help the railroad move freight operations out of congested Boston to facilities in central and western Massachusetts.
