Mo. teachers used Facebook to contact students after tornado

A Joplin, Mo., teacher is encouraging Gov. Jay Nixon to veto legislation approved by the General Assembly this year that would ban teachers from using social media to contact students. Teachers say Facebook was useful in helping them contact students in the wake of a recent tornado. Middle-school teacher Randy Turner said that if the legislation had already been enacted, it would have been difficult or impossible to reach students.
