While people tend to think of urban and suburban areas as distinctly different, the truth is that areas can exhibit both urban and suburban characteristics. For example, a walkable suburban area with densely packed housing may function in a manner similar to an urban area. Researchers have created maps of cities and suburban regions across Canada that examine this intersection of urban and suburban traits.
