ACA policy could leave physicians on the hook for costs

An Affordable Care Act provision allows a three-month grace period for families who buy subsidized plans from health insurance exchanges but fail to make premium payments. Physicians may not be aware insurers only have to pay for care for the first month. Leah Newkirk of the California Academy of Family Physicians said rural physicians and those who see disadvantaged patients will especially be affected by the policy.
