Orders to German industry plunge

German industrial orders fell a surprising 2.3% in April, extending weakness that began over the winter and included domestic and export orders alike. "The German economy is unsteady. As long as the ailing euro zone countries are not back on their feet, this will likely remain the case," said Thomas Gitzel, a VP Bank economist.
