Botox is popularly known as a wrinkle-reducing treatment, but it was initially developed as a medical treatment and is still used as one, facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon Garrett Griffin says. The first use for Botox was to treat strabismus, or crossed eyes, and it is still used to treat lazy eye, muscle spasms, hyperhidrosis, migraines, Bell's palsy and other muscular disorders, Griffin says. The minimally invasive procedure allows patients to return to work soon after treatment.
