McClellan blames misinformation for slow drug card sign-ups

Of 15.4 million eligible Medicare beneficiaries, less than half a million have gone through the process of selecting and signing up for one of the new drug discount cards that launched June 1. Focus groups conducted by the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation discovered many seniors are skeptical about the cards and worried about prices going up once they lock themselves into a card for a year, but Medicare chief Mark McClellan said those perceptions were based on "misinformation."
