Authority signs contract to put Dulles rail extension on track

The first half of a 23-mile Metrorail extension to Dulles International Airport was initiated on Wednesday with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority's signing of a contract to OK the deal. Under the contract, the Northern Virginia region will mainly use local taxes and tolls to pay for the $5.1 billion project, and the contract calls for an above-ground segment of the rail through Tysons Corner.
