Controversial Yonkers project cleared

The Industrial Development Agency, a quasi-governmental body in Yonkers, N.Y., has cleared the way for a controversial mixed-use development to include houses, offices and shops on 81 acres. Under a compromise, developer Forest City Ratner is to pay the city $9.5 million a year once the project is constructed, in exchange for an approval for zoning on the project.
