New York City charters to get merit bonuses

The U.S. Department of Education awarded $10.5 million to a New York City nonprofit to create merit pay systems in 10 charter schools, officials announced this week. The charter schools will offer bonuses of up to $8,000 for school supervisors, $6,000 for teachers and $2,000 for aides.
