FDA reviews risks of using adult antipsychotics in children

Three drugs for adults with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia are effective in children and adolescents but carry side effects, including sedation and weight gain, the FDA said. An advisory panel is scheduled to meet this week to consider the applications of AstraZeneca's Seroquel, Eli Lilly and Co.'s Zyprexa and Pfizer's Geodon for 10- to 17-year-olds.
