Officials say they are considering altering college entrance exams in China, which are the only factor in whether a student is admitted to university. About 10 million students are taking the exams, called the gaokao, this year. About 68% of students are expected to pass. However, officials say high levels of student stress surrounding the exams have caused China to consider other possibilities, such as subject-specific tests and other measures of success, such as student leadership and volunteerism.
