Euro is still stronger than predecessor despite adversity:

The euro is worth more than it did when it was launched and has greater value than Europe's dominant currency, the Deutsche Mark, had when the euro was introduced, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The euro remains higher than its lifetime monthly average of $1.1842 as well as $1.1837, its value on the first Monday after inception.
