How can Uganda improve its teaching profession?

As Uganda celebrated Heroes Day on Tuesday, some were reflecting on the decline in the public's perception of the country's teaching profession. Teaching was once regarded as the country's heroes, but a lack of support for education has made it a last resort for many students considering a career. However, a renewed emphasis on recruiting quality teachers and improving pay, with a focus on ethics and professionalism, could improve the profession and education as a whole, officials say.
