IAB voices concerns over proposed privacy rules

Rep. Rick Boucher's, D-Va., proposed privacy law is a poor substitute for self-regulation of the fast-changing online adverting industry, the IAB said in a letter to the lawmaker. His draft law would require the consumer to opt-in for any online tracking. "Requiring consumers to opt-in to transfers to third parties would drastically reduce the free flow of information that is the heart and soul of today's Internet offerings," IAB argued.
