Edible gardening and urban farms in Seattle are evolving into profit-seeking businesses as more residents are drawn to locally grown products. In Seattle's North Beach neighborhood, Noelani Alexander has developed an urban-farm operation on a 1,200-square-foot plot behind a home and plans to sell products such as carrots, leeks, lettuce, spinach, squash and cucumbers locally, mostly online.
