White House urges reconciliation of reform bills before G-20 meeting

The White House urged lawmakers who are tasked with merging the Senate and House versions of legislation to overhaul financial regulation to do so before President Barack Obama meets with his Group of 20 counterparts in Toronto later this month. Obama will have greater leverage for ideas such as higher capital standards for major financial institutions if congressional negotiators can come to an agreement, according to the Obama administration.
