"Idea boxes" are a terrible way to innovate, writes Kamal Hassan. They tend to produce a flood of poorly thought-out or irrelevant ideas that managers usually ignore, and they send a message to employees that innovative ideas come in isolated bursts, rather than from genuine collaboration and engagement with colleagues, he says.
