Experts find insulin-related mechanism in obesity

Consumption of high-fat foods in mice with intact insulin receptors resulted in weight gain, increased appetite and lower calorie expenditure, experts at Max Planck Institute for Neurological Research in Cologne, Germany, found. High-fat foods trigger insulin to impede the transmission of nerve impulses to the brain, which leads to reduced satiety and calorie burns that promote obesity, researchers said. However, the process behind the insulin-related condition is still unclear, experts added.
