Southwest and AirTran report more than 10% rise in May traffic

Southwest Airlines and its recently acquired subsidiary, AirTran Airways, reported a combined increase in May traffic of 10.6% on a year-over-year basis. Southwest also estimated that its passenger revenue per available seat, excluding AirTran, increased by as much as 12% in May, compared with the same month the previous year.
