Va. officials select providers for statewide expansion of virtual learning

Education officials in Virginia approved 13 virtual-school programs to provide courses to students throughout the state. The programs, which include for-profit and public schools, will provide full-time online programs, supplemental programs, and hybrid or blended-learning programs. "Virtual schools create additional choices and opportunities within our public education system," said Gov. Bob McDonnell, who supported the expansion.
