Ways to effectively start class projects

The launch of a class project should spark students' interest, generate questions and engage students so they are motivated to follow through, author Suzie Boss writes in this blog post. Boss suggests setting the scene for students, as a Texas teacher did with a video and theatrical performance, or through historical footage and guest speakers. Teachers also can begin a project by having students engage in field research, Boss writes.
