Parents praise dual-language elementary-school program

The first class of 14 students has graduated from a California elementary school's Spanish-English immersion program, and it garnered rave reviews from parents. "She could take high-school-level Spanish if she wanted to," Teri Flanders said of her 10-year-old daughter, Gabriella. The program divided study time equally between the two languages and required that participants also be divided evenly between native English and Spanish speakers to help students learn from one another.
