Federal regulators on Thursday put aside concerns about interference with wireless networks and gave NextNav the all-clear to launch a system to find people inside buildings via their cellphones using enhanced 911 technology. NextNav uses a network of transmitters that pinpoint the phones, which will require software upgrades to link up with NextNav. The Federal Communications Commission said the move is necessary because of diminishing land line services, but opponents argued the system will interfere with wireless networks and other services.
