School garden offers hands-on science lessons

Educators at Northwestern Middle School in Battle Creek, Mich., are taking science learning outside. Middle-school students recently designed and built a garden where they are learning about water management, life sciences and teamwork. "It's an outdoor learning space, but even more than that, what they learned from doing the garden is amazing," teacher Amy VanZee said.
