Strawberry farmers keep up with growing U.S. demand

U.S. consumers ate twice as many strawberries last year than they did 20 years ago, and growers have been keeping up with demand, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Supply has grown from 430 hundredweight per acre in 2004 to 537 hundredweight in 2012, with California growers supplying 90% of U.S. berries.
