Alaska board considers video test for certification

A controversial three-tiered certification system up before the Alaska Board of Education for approval this week requires new teachers to submit a 45-minute video of their classroom techniques to a state panel. While critics question whether the tapes are the best way to assess rookies' performance, others say they're a cost-effective alternative to making teachers travel to a central site for review.
