American Airlines, British Airways press for "level playing field"

British Airways CEO Willie Walsh says the case for a trans-Atlantic partnership with American Airlines is "stronger than ever" and predicts the joint effort will be in place by 2010. "This is about leveling the competitive playing field, and we are confident our case has significant merit," Walsh said, while urging European regulators to outline any objections they may have no later than August, giving the two carriers an opportunity to respond.
