Changing times force travel agents to adapt

Travel agents are feeling the effects of the economic downturn, the H1N1 flu virus, competition from the Internet and other challenges, but they continue to adapt, according to ASTA. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says that travel agent employment is expected to change little during the next several years, while those who specialize have the best odds of succeeding. While agents have been competing with online travel agencies for years, they say the Internet can't replace the personal service, knowledge and expertise of a traditional agent.
