Credit crunch causes slowing of some Value Place expansion

Liberty Lodging, the leading franchisee of the extended-stay Value Place Hotels chain, says its plans to build 100 new Value Place hotels have stalled due to difficulties in accessing the company's line of credit. Meanwhile, Value Place Franchise Services says the lodging industry slump has resulted in an overall slowing of growth for the chain, with only about 175 of 200 planned hotels expected to open by the end of the year.
