Nevada to build pipeline if Lake Mead water level drops 21 feet

The Southern Nevada Water Authority will go ahead with construction of a pipeline to tap groundwater if the water level in Lake Mead drops another 21 feet. The surface of the reservoir behind Hoover Dam now stands at 1,096 feet above sea level, the lowest point since 1965. The pipeline will connect Las Vegas to Spring Valley at a cost of $2 billion to $3.5 billion.
