Sprint Nextel and Palm launched the new Pre smartphone, with an ad campaign from Omnicom shop Goodby Silverstein & Partners that touted its ability to easily toggle between open applications -- an advantage it has over Apple's iPhone. For Sprint Nextel, the launch is an opportunity to win back subscribers lost to Verizon Wireless and AT&T. "You need some event or opportunity to go tell your story to consumers," said Kevin Packingham, Sprint's head of product development. "The Pre is that opportunity."
