Coalition works to garner support for common standards

Groups that had a hand in drafting proposed national education standards are lobbying for their adoption by states. These groups include the National Governors Association, the Council of Chief State School Officers and Alliance for Excellent Education. The coalition has turned its attention to demonstrating the importance of the standards and correcting inaccuracies in a coordinated way. Most states are expected to adopt the standards to help them secure federal Race to the Top funding.
