John Pistole will face Senate confirmation hearings on Thursday, and the issue of collective bargaining rights for airport screeners is certain to play a central role. President Barack Obama's third choice to head the TSA already has discussed the issue in private with Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., a union critic who helped torpedo earlier nominees. But union leaders are confident that Pistole's resume will win the day. "Congress won't let one or two senators hold everything up over what is a straw argument," says Sharon Pinnock of the American Federation of Government Employees.
