Hospitals, doctors call EHR meaningful use requirements "unrealistic"

Hospital executives and doctors say that while electronic health records may improve patient care, the criteria for demonstrating meaningful use to qualify for incentives are "unrealistic," even for hospitals that are considered leaders in EHR adoption. "Even as an early adopter of this technology, we find ourselves struggling to meet the federal standards," said the president of the Bronx, N.Y.-based Montefiore Medical Center.
