NPRA urges against further increase to spill-liability tax

The National Petrochemical and Refiners Association criticized part of a Senate bill that would significantly boost the oil-spill-liability tax, arguing that it would also raise fuel prices for consumers. Though NPRA did not oppose the House's 34-cent increase to make sure that the fund would be sufficient for future incidents, the Senate's proposition "must be stopped," said Charles Drevna, the group's president.
