Pipeline blast fuels debate on natural-gas safety

A North Texas utility worker accidentally drilled into a natural-gas pipeline on Monday, causing an explosion that killed one person and put several others into the hospital. The accident could add to the debate over natural-gas production near populated areas, although officials have said pipelines and drilling are safe. "Pipelines continue to be the safest way to transport hydrocarbons and raw materials, which our economy utilizes every day," said one industry official.
