The worldwide storage software market has grown 7.2% from a year ago and has achieved revenues of $3 billion in the first quarter, illustrating a solid growth pattern, research firm IDC says. Market leader EMC reported $696 million in first-quarter revenue and a 23% market share. IBM, Hewlett-Packard, NetApp and CA also showed market-share increases. Second-place player Symantec, which holds 17.5% of the market, recorded a revenue dip.
