Wall Street might face derivatives restrictions after all

Democrats have been expected by many in the industry to drop a tough proposal that would require banks to spin off their derivatives trading desks. Now, it appears more likely that the investment banks will be forced to live with the restrictions, which will result in a significant amount of lost revenue, despite opposition from a number of regulators and other government officials.
