Low-dose PEM improves invasive ductal carcinoma imaging

A study presented at the SNM annual meeting in San Antionio, Texas, showed that PEM using a 5-millicurie radiopharmaceutical dose, lower than the 10-mCi protocol usually used, resulted in a longer scan time but improved lesion-to-background ratios in invasive ductal carcinoma imaging. The researchers said they are still working to develop strategies for lower doses and for dosing patients based on their weight.
