Google has already proven its ability to shake up business models by creating a hugely profitable online-advertising system -- but now it's time for the search giant to apply its innovation resources to solve social problems, writes Solitaire Townsend. One good place to start might be by creating micro-investment tools allowing people to invest small sums in social or environmental projects, Townsend suggests. "Google could officiate the beautiful marriage waiting to happen between crowd-funders and sustainable businesses," she writes.
