U.S. adds jobs in May, but jobless rate is unchanged

The addition of 217,000 jobs in May means the U.S. economy has regained all of the 9 million jobs lost due to the 2008 economic meltdown. But the nation remains millions of jobs short of optimal employment because of population growth, leaving the unemployment rate unchanged for the month at 6.3%.
