The broadband revolution has arrived

06/9/2003

EMarketer, generally known for its conservative estimates, is positively bullish on the prospects for increased broadband penetration in the US. In 2002, there were 17.2 million households with high-speed, always-on connections and this figure will grow by 41% to 24.2 million by the year's end. Don't believe eMarketer? There's an amazing amount of convergence among the leading researchers making projections for broadband growth in 2003. While nine out of eleven researchers agree there roughly 16 million to 17 million households on broadband in 2002, all are predicting at least 33% growth for 2003. With broadband reaching "critical mass" this year, watch out for more large advertisers getting online and increased use of rich media advertising. www.emarketer.com
