ConAgra to sell chicken business

Pilgrim's Pride will become the second nation's second largest chicken company when it buys chicken processing operations from ConAgra Foods for $590 million in cash and securities. "This transaction is another important piece of our ongoing agenda to improve the strength and consistency of our earnings by focusing on businesses with higher margin opportunities and low volatility," said ConAgra chairman and CEO Bruce Rohde.
