Highmark to help doctors implement e-health systems

Highmark plans to provide $29 million in grants to help doctors adopt e-prescribing software and EHRs. First announced in 2005, the Blue Cross Blue Shield plan's efforts were delayed by questions regarding the tax-exempt status of the foundation the insurer planned to use to distribute the grants. Highmark has decided instead to award the grants directly.
