Medicare bill to cut reimbursements, support e-prescribing

Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., has introduced a $20 billion Medicare bill that would trim reimbursement for dialysis medications, home oxygen equipment and other health services to prevent cutting payments to medical providers who treat senior citizens. The proposal also mandates e-prescriptions for Medicare beneficiaries beginning in 2011 and includes incentives for providers to adopt the technology from 2009 to 2013.
