Nontraded REITs offer stability, risk in crunch

Nontraded real estate investment trusts can offer stability amid the economic upheaval and credit crunch. "You're buying an investment vehicle that theoretically has less volatility," said Ron Kuykendall, spokesman for NAREIT. "The prices are not moving around all day." The sector, however is not risk-free -- several companies face shareholder lawsuits over some of those risks.
