Sanyo eyes U.S. as critical market for TVs

Sanyo Electric Co. believes it can nearly double its North American electronics sales over the next three years and is focusing on tripling its flat-panel TV shipments as the major driver to reach that goal, according to Masami Murata, the president of Sanyo North America. He also said Friday that the company was in talks to add retailers, such as Best Buy and Costco Wholesale, to its current sole distributor, Wal-Mart.
