U.S. airlines oppose new EU emissions rules

American carriers are facing a major deadline to comply with new European Union rules regarding global warming-linked emissions. U.S. airlines "adamantly oppose" the plan, and the Air Transport Association says that the scheme is in violation of international law. Abroad, the EU has already gotten support from British Airways and other carriers.
